FIRST ANNUAL JURIED
Dear Artist,
The Pahrump Wild West Extravaganza , cordially invites you to participate in the 1st Annual Juried Western Art Show to be held the weekend of October 15, and 16, 2011 at the Saddle West Casino in Pahrump, Nevada.
Saturday, October 15th, 2011 9:00 am – 5:00 pm--
Sunday October 16th,2011 900 am – 5:00 pm
Artists are responsible for delivery of entries to Saddle West and their removal at the end of the event. Entries must be brought to the Extravaganza on Friday, October 14, 2011, between the hours of 12 noon and 5 pm.
Shipped entries will not be accepted. Insurance of all artwork is the personal responsibility of the artist.
The Extravaganza will be held on the grounds of Saddle West Casino in Pahrump, Highway 160. We expect over 5,000 people to attend this event over the three-day period.
The goal of this event is to showcase the art of the West in all its forms and all its locales, and in doing so, become one of the premier Western art shows in the Southwest. This year, the show will feature flat work in all mediums. All works must be an original from the artist hand, no reproductions in any form will be hung. This concept is designed to glorify mans ability to create.
Artistically Manipulated Photography is allowed. We realize that in today’s high tech world, most photography is enhanced in some way.
Western Art is defined as art that depicts Western prairie/mountain culture, lifestyle, heritage, and character. Art work that is diverse in medium and style in a variety of subjects are welcomed , including ranching, western landscapes, rodeo, agriculture, First Nations, desert floral, portraits, architecture, and wildlife.
Art in the form of modern art, exotic wildlife, English type equestrian subjects, and still life flower arrangements shall not be considered western art.
All western art must display a western flavor, and is subject to judge’s discrimination
ENTRY FEE: $15.00 for first entry, $10.00 for next entry with a maximum of four entries. Participants may contact the show committee to reserve your number of spaces otherwise acceptance will be on a first come basis and space may be limited..
DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: October 7, 2011 for securing a space for your work.
AWARDS: Best of Show - $150.00, 1st Place $100.00. 2nd Place $75.00,
3rd Place, $50.00 Ribbons will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each of the categories listed below.
CATEGORIES: Oil, acrylic, pencil, pen, pastel, mixed media, watercolor, photography,
PRESENTATION: All work must be original, and cannot be in violation of any copyrights. Artwork must be properly wired and ready for display
All entries must remain on display ( unless sold) until the close of the exhibit.
DIMENSION OF WORK: Framed artwork cannot exceed four feet wide or four feet deep.
SALE OF ARTWORK: Minimum price may not be changed after acceptance of entries. Pahrump Wild West Extravaganza shall receive 25% commission of the sold piece, this funds the prize monies . The Art Show Committee will handle the sales of art work for the artist and will notify the artist when a sale is made. “NFS” shall indicate “Not For Sale”.
Insurance of all artwork is the personal responsibility of the artist.
CLOSE OF SHOW: Sunday, Artists are responsible to pick up their work at the close of the show unless arrangements have been made in advance. Any work left unclaimed will be handles at the discretion of the art show committee.

The Pahrump Wild West Extravaganza will provide minimal security from Friday 7:00 pm through Saturday morning (until 9:00 am) and Saturday evening 10:00 pm to Sunday 9:00 am morning; however, Artists are responsible for their own art work, its protection and insurance. The Pahrump Wild West Extravaganza and Saddle West Casino, its Boards, staff, volunteers, or the Town of Pahrump will not be responsible for losses of any kind, whether by fire, theft, physical violence, elements of nature or any other cause, however originating.
